The UWP-D27 is a complete wireless audio package that’s ideal for on-camera interviews, live presentations and other applications where you need to capture crisp, clear sound with minimum fuss. The ECM-V1BMP omni-directional lavalier microphone connects to the light, compact UTX-B40 bodypack transmitter that’s worn by an interviewee. Audio is transmitted wirelessly to the URX-P41D 2-channel portable receiver, with quick and easy wireless pairing between transmitter and receiver. An optional Multi Interface Shoe Adaptor simplifies audio recording with compatible Sony cameras and handheld camcorders.

Key new features include:

1) Digital audio interface to improve sound quality

 • Sony’s Digital Audio Processing, which uses DSP (digital signal processing) for digital companding, improves sound quality by optimizing a time-constant range between the transmitter and receiver, making the reproduction of sound more accurate. It provides superb transient response performance which for interview style recording means the audio is clear and crisp.

 • Using the SMAD-P5 MI shoe adaptor enables direct digital audio recording and delivers high sound quality with low noise by skipping the D/A and A/D process. This interface is compatible with a wide range of Sony’s XDCAM camcorders and Alpha interchangeable lens cameras.* It also integrates seamlessly with Sony’s camcorders and displays audio information on the viewfinder for enhanced usability in the field.

2) “NFC SYNC” function to allow quick and easy channel setting

 • Simple and quick channel setting for reliable RF transmission when time pressure is high is becoming crucial. Delivering enhanced usability, the unique “NFC SYNC” feature is designed for easy and fast frequency setting. By simply holding the NFC SYNC button on the receiver for a few seconds, it automatically scans the appropriate frequency. Thereafter, just touching the receiver to the transmitter will sync the channel for optimum speed and efficiency.

3) Compact form factor, with improved ergonomics

 • By reducing the size of the receiver from previous generations, the URX-P41D can sit on top of the camera or ILC attached to the MI shoe or cold shoe allowing for improved balance on the camera

4) External Microphone Input and Three-channel mixing function

 • The External Microphone Input for an additional wired microphone widens the sound capture options.  Three-channel audio recording is available by using a Sony’s lavalier microphone through the external microphone input. Furthermore, four-channel audio recording is also possible when using a stereo microphone through the external microphone input.

5) Stable RF reception

 • The URX-P41D can reduce interruptions in reception (RF signal dropout), by utilizing a space diversity reception system, which achieves highly stable reception because of its two receiving antennas. The angle of the antennas on the portable receiver can also be adjusted, which helps to further eliminate signal dropout.

6) Functions to improve performance when on location

 • Auto gain mode and Output level control brings the user peace of mind that the audio levels are correct when out in the field. Auto gain will help to prevent any unwanted distortion and Output level control (when using XLR cable) allows the user to increase the output level where necessary.

The SMAD-P5 Multi Interface (MI) Shoe Adaptor allows convenient, cable-free connection of the URX-P40 wireless receiver to compatible camcorders or interchangeable-lens cameras featuring an MI (Multi Interface) shoe. Audio signals are transmitted directly from the wireless receiver to the camera with no need for connecting cables. The adaptor also supports direct digital audio recording with compatible camcorders, bypassing A/D and D/A conversion stages to deliver high sound quality with low noise. The SMAD-P5 allows the wireless receiver to draw power from the camcorder via the MI shoe, while receiver power ON/OFF can be controlled directly from the camera.

 

The SMAD-P5 is applicable to XDCAM Camcorder PXW-FX9, PXW-FS7, PXW-FS7II, PXW-FS5, PXW-FS5K, PXW-Z280/Z190, PXW-X280/X200*, PXW-X180/X160, PXW-Z150**, PXW-Z90 and PXW-X70, NXCAM Camcorder HXR-NX5R, HXR-NX80, HXR-MC2500 and HXR-MC88, Handycam FDR-AX60 and NEX-VG30E, interchangeable lens digital camera α7II, α7III, α7RII, α7RIII, α7RIV, α7S, α7SII, α9 and α99II with analog output setting. The 2-channel wireless receiver URX-P03D can be attached to camcorders or interchangeable-lens cameras that have an MI (Multi-Interface) shoe using the 2-channel MI shoe adaptor SMAD-P3D. This eliminates the need for connecting cables. By using the MI shoe adaptor, audio signals can be transmitted from the wireless receiver to a camera. In addition, the wireless receiver can get power from the camera, and the camera can control power ON/OFF, unifying power management.
