Radial Effects

 

The Voco-Loco is a foot-controlled effects loop that enables the lead vocalist, sax or trumpet player to incorporate guitar effects pedals into the signal path, just like an electric guitarist adds effects for soloing.

 

The design begins with a state-of-the-art mic preamp that is designed to accept both a standard dynamic microphone or a condenser by activating the built-in phantom power supply. A great sounding two band EQ with low and high frequency shelving makes it easy to add warmth and shimmer. The signal is then sent to the guitar pedals via a transformer isolated hi-Z effects loop circuit that is equipped with individual send & receive controls to optimize signal-to-noise and reduce distortion. A tone control on the return path lets you smooth the sound of pedals that may be overly bright and the blend control lets you mix the original 'dry' signal with the 'wet' effect to set the perfect mix.

 

Simply plug your mic into the Voco-Loco via the XLR input, connect your effects pedals using standard ¼" guitar cables, and then send the output from the Voco-Loco to the input on your mixer. Before the song begins, choose which effects you want on and - when you are ready - activate the loop using the right hand footswitch. A second footswitch serves double-duty as either a mute switch to turn off the mic between sets or as a 100% wet effects loop for special situations where you may not want any of the clean signal to pass through.

 

With the Voco-Loco in your signal chain, you can add delay or reverb, maybe a touch of distortion or even a special effect like a wah-wah to enhance your solo performance. The options are only limited by your imagination and desire to stand out from the crowd!

 

 

The Radial Phazer™ is an analogue phase alignment tool that lets you bring two sound sources together so that the fundamentals play in sync. Once in phase, the results are impressive: On electric guitar; you can combine the direct feed of an amp with a room mic to create fat rich tones. Built Radial tough for the road, the Phazer is equipped with an innovative book-end design that creates a protective zone around the knobs and switches. Construction is 14-gauge steel with an internal I-beam frame that protects the sensitive electronics in even the harshest touring environments. A full bottom no-slip pad provides electrical insulation to eliminate electrical bonding and mechanical isolation to reduce mishap.

The Radial Tank Driver is a wonderfully unique 500 series module that allows you to drive a balanced line level signal through the reverb tank in your Fender Twin amp! Yes, an affordable interface designed specifically to drive spring reverbs of all types and deliver the long trailing shimmering effect that is only possible with a true spring.

The design begins with a transformer coupled output driver with normal and high settings for new and old spring reverbs alike. Separate drive and return controls allow signal optimization to maximize signal to noise. The Radial Twinline™ is a unique device that enables a guitarist to share effects pedals between two amps when using the amplifier's built-in (rear-panel) effects loops.

Consider the problem: Many guitarists prefer to use the effects loop in the amplifier to insert pedals into their signal chain. This is particularly useful with delay pedals where applying echo to the signal after the guitar amp's preamp distortion as this results in more distinctive notes and more pleasing sonic results. A problem arises when using two amps on stage: how do you toggle the pedalboard between the two amps? The guitar player must either duplicate his pedal setup (one for each amp) or completely change his setup by connecting the pedals to an AB switcher and then connect the pedals to the front panel inputs of the amps.

The Twinline can be thought of as a pedalboard switcher that lets you remotely toggle the effects from one amp's effects loop to the other, thus allowing the guitarist to share his pedalboard between the two amps. To accomplish this, the Twinline is equipped with two amplifier effects loop circuits – each with separate send and receive levels to optimize the signal path for each amp's effects loop. There is also a third effects loop for the pedalboard. This features a choice of unbalanced ¼" connectors for typical guitar pedals or balanced XLR connections for studio effects. A remote control input is used to toggle the active amplifier's effects loop via a contact closure using a MIDI system or latching footswitch. When used with the optional Radial JR2™ remote, this adds the ability to bypass the effects completely.

As with all Radial products, the Twinline is made from heavy duty 14 gauge steel for ultimate durability and maximum shielding against stray magnetic fields while the book-end design creates a protective zone around the controls and switches. Inside, 100% discrete class-A electronics deliver optimal sonics as it buffers the circuit while transformer isolation eliminates troublesome ground loops that can introduce hum and buzz if left unchecked.
